Engineering
Separate working designs from released drawings and specifications. Define who publishes the issued package, how the revision is labelled and who needs to know when it changes.
NEXTCLOUD FOR MANUFACTURING
Connect engineering, production and suppliers around controlled technical documentation.

Who uses the workspace
A technical change can involve engineering, procurement, production and a supplier. Give each team a clear place to find the documents it needs and a clear owner for every release.
Separate working designs from released drawings and specifications. Define who publishes the issued package, how the revision is labelled and who needs to know when it changes.
Give operators access to the current work instruction and inspection checklist. Test how they find them at a shared workstation and how the shift handles a superseded local copy.
Exchange technical packs and supplier responses in a workspace for the relevant order or work package. Review the supplier’s access when the delivery is accepted.
Collect inspection reports, photographs and corrective-action documents. Keep the supporting evidence with the relevant job and follow the disposition rules of your quality process.
A practical workflow
Export the agreed files from the engineering system. Publish the released set, identify the revision and give procurement a single location to reference in the order.
Decide whether the supplier needs named access or a controlled upload link. Collect the response in the work package and route exceptions to the person who owns the technical decision.
Keep the report, supporting photographs and working notes together. Record the agreed follow-up in the system that owns the quality case and share the approved response with the supplier.
Withdraw temporary access, identify the issued set that must be retained and confirm who owns it. Include supplier copies and downstream systems in the closure process.

Technical packages travel beyond the factory. Nextcloud can give engineering teams a controlled collaboration space while operational and production systems remain separately governed.
Give each supplier access to its agreed package.
Keep technical files on agreed infrastructure.
Use configured logs to investigate sharing activity.
Plan backups and recovery around engineering workflows.
On the factory floor
Keep working designs with engineering. Share the released drawing and specification in a supplier workspace, with access limited to the agreed work package. Revoke access when that order closes and retain the issued set with the relevant project records.

YOUR PLATFORM. YOUR OPERATING MODEL.
Choose who operates the platform. We define the deployment, responsibilities and support scope with you before implementation.
For organizations that want to run Nextcloud on their own or agreed private infrastructure.
For teams that want a defined operational service alongside their collaboration platform.
Proposed service scope. Hosting, subscription, response times, recovery objectives and pricing are confirmed in the written offer. Managed service is an operating model; it can include Nextcloud Enterprise.
QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START
Keep working drafts and released instructions in separate areas. Give production teams access to the released copies and define who can issue a revision and withdraw the superseded version.
Pilot the process with one work instruction. Check how operators find it on a shared workstation, what happens if a local copy exists, and how the team handles a revision during a shift.
Set up a workspace for one supplier or work package. Share the drawing and specification revisions the supplier needs, and decide whether they should be able to upload a response or only download the issued material.
Test the permissions using a supplier account. Include how access is withdrawn and how drawings already downloaded by a supplier are handled under your agreements.
Start by deciding which system owns part numbers, engineering revisions and release approvals. Nextcloud can support exchange and collaboration around documents, with any system integration scoped separately.
A pilot can follow one change order from the authoritative system to the released file shared with production or a supplier. Check how a rejected revision or failed transfer is handled.
Choose between infrastructure you operate and a hosting environment agreed during solution design. Before deployment, we document where primary files and backups reside, who can administer each system and how data is exported or restored.
If your procurement or contracts specify a country, a provider or limits on remote support access, bring those requirements to the design review. We confirm them against the proposed deployment and service terms.
Start with one workflow
Choose one active work package and map its drawings, participants and approvals.
Test a revision change, supplier permissions and access from a representative shop-floor workstation.
Confirm ownership, handover and restore procedures before expanding to other teams or suppliers.
